Pitt, Bale and Gosling Teaming for The Big Short

Christian Bale and Ryan Gosling are in talks to join Brad Pitt in The Big Short, an adaptation of the Michael Lewis best-seller about the 2008 financial crisis. Lewis also wrote Moneyball, which Pitt previously brought to the big screen as well.

According to , Pitt’s Plan B production company and Paramount are producing the film. Lewis’ book’s full title is The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine, and according to the trade paper it depicts the “housing and credit bubbles of the 2000s that led to the 2007-08 global financial crisis.”

Adam McKay (Anchorman, The Other Guys) is writing the script and is expected to direct the film, which certainly seems like a new direction for the filmmaker. It’s not yet known when The Big Short will go before cameras.
