Emma Stone has explained why she ultimately passed on the chance to join Paul Feig’s upcoming female-led Ghostbusters film.
“The script was really funny,” Stone told . “It just didn’t feel like the right time for me. A franchise is a big commitment – it’s a whole thing. I think maybe I need a minute before I dive back into that water.”
Stone was reportedly on the studio’s “interest” list and was a major part of the recent Amazing Spider-Man franchise.
Original Ghostbuster Dan Aykroyd opened up about the reboot’s script, claiming he thinks it’s funny, intelligent, and “hits the right notes”.
The Paul Feig-directed Ghostbusters reboot – which will star Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, plus Cecily Strong and – is due to hit cinemas on July 22, 2016.
