Life is Strange Developer 'Can't do Much More' About Lip-Synching Issues

Developer Dontnod is aware of the reported lip synching issues in its episodic series Life is Strange, but claims there's not much they can do about it.

"To be completely honest we can't do much more for Life is Strange, season one," co-director Michel Koch said in an interview with . "We decided when we started the game that most of the budget should go towards the writing and voice actors - they were really what was important.

"We had to make some decisions and the way we have our character models doesn't allow us to do much more than we have. We know this is a weak point but I think that it still works. The first reaction is - ok, I see that - but most players in the end don't really care."

Koch continued, speaking about the process he and the team at Dontnod went through while pitching Life is Strange to other publishers. According to him, many of the other publishers were interested but wanted to make key changes such as making Max a male character, adding in more action, and wanting more quick-time events. Ultimately, it was Square Enix who allowed Dontnod to continue with the project according to their original vision.
