"Skin it" means something different in this context.

While a lot of games try to entice you into a pre-order with exclusive digital goods and item upgrades, how do you bring in players for a sports game? For Sony, the answer is about feeding the nostalgia for your favorite team.

Pre-orders for the PlayStation exclusive MLB 15: The Show will include a code to order a free controller skin, allowing you to show support for your favorite team (or pranking a friend by wrapping his controller in his least favorite)

Retailers currently offering the pre-order deal online include:

In addition to the skin, GameStop is also offering a digital item pack for pre-orderers that includes "six MLB Player cards and two items that can be Equipment, Ritual Items, Franchise Sponsorships, or Stadiums."

You don't get the skin immediately after ordering, though; not all the retailers specify, but it sounds like you'll get the code to order the skin either when the game ships or when you pick it up in store.

  • Steel case with an "exclusive cover"
  • 12k in Stubs
  • 15 bonus item packs
  • 30 MLB dynamic PlayStation themes
  • MLB 15 dynamic PlayStation theme

MLB 15: The Show is also available on and on March 31, but there are no pre-order offers listed for the other platforms.
