Marvel’s Daredevil Adds Six Supporting Characters, Including Turk Barrett and Melvin Potter

Marvel has announced six supporting cast members who will appear in the upcoming Daredevil Netflix series.

Rob Morgan (Person of Interest, Believe) will play Turk Barrett, “a smalltime criminal in Hell’s Kitchen,” while Matt Gerald (Avatar, Dexter) will play Melvin Potter, “a machinist caught between a rock and a hard place.”

The following actors will take on characters who are described by Marvel as siding with the villainous Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) in the show: Peter Shinkoda (Falling Skies, Hawaii 5-0) plays Nobu, “a Japanese businessman with an agenda all his own”; Wai Ching Ho (Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Blue Bloods) is Madame Gao, “a powerful woman running her own trade”; and Nikolai Nikolaeff (Camp, Sea Patrol) and Gideon Emery (Grimm, How to Train Your Dragon 2) are Vladimir and Anatoly, “two Russian brothers looking to forge new names for themselves in America.”

In the comics, Barrett has utilized the Mauler and Stilt-Man armor to fight Daredevil. He's the kind of guy who will mug a Christmas Santa and use the suit to steal donations. Meanwhile, Potter was an early enemy of Daredevil’s also known as Gladiator.

As for the other four characters, we’re kind of drawing a blank as to whether or not they have comic-book counterparts. In the case of Nobu, there was Kage Yoshioka, the founder of The Hand, which is the order of ninjas that Daredevil often battles. But he lived like 500 years ago, so yeah…

Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock), Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple), Bob Gunton (Leland Owlsley), Scott Glenn (Stick), Ayelet Zurer (Vanessa Marianna), Vondie Curtis-Hall (Ben Urich) and Toby Leonard Moore (Wesley) star in the 13-episode series which debuts on Netflix on April 10.
