Christian Bale and Ryan Gosling are in talks to join Brad Pitt in The Big Short, an adaptation of the Michael Lewis best-seller about the 2008 financial crisis. Lewis also wrote Moneyball, which Pitt previously brought to the big screen as well.
According to , Pitt’s Plan B production company and Paramount are producing the film. Lewis’ book’s full title is The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine, and according to the trade paper it depicts the “housing and credit bubbles of the 2000s that led to the 2007-08 global financial crisis.”
Adam McKay (Anchorman, The Other Guys) is writing the script and is expected to direct the film, which certainly seems like a new direction for the filmmaker. It’s not yet known when The Big Short will go before cameras.
