Oculus announced several new games that take advantage of its upcoming Touch motion controllers today at its Oculus Connect 3 press conference today. These include titles from acclaimed action developers Epic Games, Ready at Dawn, and 4A Games.
Epic announced Robo Recall, an evolution of its Bullet Train demo from last year. It looks like a VR robo-bullying video game, where you shoot, hit, and flick bullets back at robots in arcade fashion. The game rewards creativity, and you'll be able to test trick shots in a sandbox environment. It'll also have high scores and leaderboards, so you'll be able to compete with friends to see who's the best at killing robots. It launches for free on the Oculus Touch early next year.
The Order: 1886 developer Ready at Dawn's Lone Echo puts players in the role of a human-like AI named Jack, as you explore space environments while a companion talks to you. It looks like it'll be comprised of quiet sections split up with sequences of explosive and tense moments. No release date was announced.
Lastly, Metro: Last Light developer 4A Games is working on Arktika 1, a first-person shooter set almost 100 years into the future. Earth is going through a new ice age. Groups of humans live and survive in small numbers around the world, and you'll have to protect one of the Russian colonies from threats such as raiders, marauders, and monsters.
"At 4A Games, we pride ourselves on our ability to make immersive experiences, so creating Arktika 1, a big, atmospheric VR shooter made a lot of sense," said creative director Andriy Prokhorov. "Arktika 1 is a full-blown triple-A title, and we're employing all of our accumulated experience making high-quality shooters, and also using a lot of new opportunities provided only by VR."
Oculus head of studios Jason Rubin said that "at least 35 new games" will support Oculus Touch at launch. A sizzle reel was shown that included games such as Job Simulator, Fantastic Contraption, and Kingspray.
Oculus Touch releases December 6 for $200. Preorders open on October 10 online and at physical retailers. It was also confirmed that Oculus Touch controllers will offer full-scale room movement, though you'll need a third sensor. These are priced at $80 and will release on December 6. Preorders for these also open on October 10.
