Steam's weekend sales are now available, and they come alongside a free weekend deal. Call of Duty: Black Ops III is free to play from now until Sunday, October 2, at 1 PM PT. And if you want to continue playing after Sunday, then you can pick the shooter up at a discount.
Black Ops III costs $30 until Monday at 10 AM PT. It's discounted alongside many other games including The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Doom, and The Division. There are additional sales on Steam hardware accessories such as Steam Controller and Link skins for $7 each. You can check out the designs here.
The Call of Duty free weekend comes just after developer Treyarch introduced mod tools to Black Ops III through a beta. The beta is available through the Steam Library's "Tools" section and includes Steam Workshop support, an unranked server browser, a level and property editor, and the Mod Tools launcher.
The final DLC expansion for Black Ops III, Salvation, recently released on PS4, as part of Sony's exclusivity deal with Activision. It should be on its way to PC and Xbox One in the next few weeks.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III received a score of 7/10 in GameSpot's review. Critic Mike Mahardy said, "In its undead modes, and the first 10 hours of multiplayer, it excels. But in its campaign, it merely crawls forward. Black Ops III doesn't offer anything remarkable to the series, but does just enough to maintain the Call of Duty status quo. The franchise, however slowly, continues its inexorable march."
