A remastered version of Xbox classic Voodoo Vince is on the way for Xbox One and PC, creator Clayton Kauzlaric announced today.
Voodoo Vince was released for the original Xbox in 2003. It never became backward-compatible on Xbox 360; Kauzlaric said in an Xbox Wire post that this is because its "engine used some convoluted custom code that made Vince ineligible for backward compatibility."
Kauzlaric began thinking about releasing an updated version of Voodoo Vince, and a few months ago, he and a "small team" began working on what's called Voodoo Vince: Remastered. It offers support for widescreen visuals and controller rumble, and it'll have improved graphics (with "crisp new textures and rendering effects) while running at 1080p and 60 FPS. You can get a brief look at it in the announcement trailer above.
One area that isn't changing is the game itself--this sounds purely like a technical remaster, rather than a redesigned version of the game.
"The gameplay is mostly untouched, though. That was important to me," Kauzlaric said. "Vince moves, animates, and controls exactly like he did in 2003. You can just see a lot more detail in his world when he moves through our twisted version of New Orleans and the Bayou."
Voodoo Vince Remastered launched sometime in early 2017 for Xbox One and PC.
